Our Cancer & Blood Diseases Institute is nationally recognized for providing exceptional, family-centered care to children with complex hematologic disorders, cancer, bone marrow failure syndromes, and rare genetic conditions. Our nurses are integral members of multidisciplinary teams, coordinating highly specialized care while building lasting relationships with patients and families.

As a Registered Nurse Navigator
, you will play a vital role in managing the care of a complex patient population while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, genetic specialists, researchers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, comprehensive care. The RN Navigator coordinates comprehensive, longitudinal care for patients with complex hematologic and genetic disorders. This role serves as the primary liaison between patients, families, physicians, specialty departments, infusion services, laboratories, and research teams to ensure exceptional continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate care for a complex panel of approximately 230 pediatric patients with hematologic and rare genetic disorders.
  • Partner closely with five physicians to manage patient care across outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Coordinate annual multidisciplinary appointments across multiple specialty departments to ensure comprehensive patient evaluations.
  • Manage pending bone marrow procedures, laboratory testing, diagnostic results, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Review laboratory results, communicate findings with physicians, and ensure timely follow-up with patients and families.
  • Coordinate ongoing care for patients receiving scheduled blood transfusions and other infusion therapies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for genetic testing questions from patients, families, and healthcare professionals throughout the organization.
  • Support research initiatives, patient registries, and clinical trials, including the Shwachman-Diamond Registry, DKC gene therapy research, and Quercetin clinical studies.
  • Monitor long-term surveillance and late-effects screening to promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Respond to patient and family phone calls, providing clinical guidance, education, triage, and care coordination.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, evidence-based, family-centered care.
