Outpatient Pediatric Surgery Registered Nurse

Cincinnati Children's Hospital is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Pediatric Surgery team. In this role, you will provide expert nursing care to pediatric patients and their families throughout their surgical journey—from initial assessment and preparation through post-operative follow-up.

You'll work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional, family-centered care to children with a wide range of surgical conditions.

What You'll Do

• Assess and prepare patients:
  Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, obtain medical histories, identify allergies, review medications, and recognize special healthcare needs.
• Educate patients and families:
  Prepare children and their parents or caregivers for surgical procedures by providing clear, age-appropriate education and instructions before and after surgery.
• Provide emotional support:
  Help children and families navigate the surgical experience by addressing questions, anxiety, and concerns with compassion and reassurance.
• Coordinate follow-up care:
  Facilitate follow-up appointments and provide families with clear guidance about recovery, potential complications, and when to seek medical attention.
• Collaborate across specialties:
  Partner with surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate high-quality care.
• Care for diverse surgical populations:
  Support patients receiving care for a broad range of congenital and acquired conditions—from common diagnoses such as appendicitis and hernias to complex conditions including solid tumors and multiple congenital anomalies.
• Work across locations:
  Provide care at our Main Campus and satellite locations as needed.
