Job Description
The Vascular/Endovascular/Thoracic Clinical Coordinator serves as an advanced clinical and operational resource with demonstrated expertise in the management of complex vascular, endovascular, and thoracic surgical patients and procedures. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of vascular and cardiothoracic anatomy and physiology, disease processes, surgical techniques, endovascular technologies, specialty-specific equipment, implants, devices, imaging modalities, and the unique perioperative risks associated with these patient populations.
Oversees the utilization and availability of resources including supplies, equipment, staff and room's availability. Is responsible for patient throughput to ensure optimum care of the patient and the productivity of staff and physicians. Actively engages in physician growth and development. Responsible for coordinating tasks associated with equitable on-time delivery of surgical schedule of specialty service. Spending a minimum of 50% of work day in clinical setting.

General Duties
- Works with physicians, managers, and staff to improve or design processes that maximize resource utilization of people, supplies, and facilities.
- Directs and coordinates daily unit activities to facilitate patient flow.
- Participate in initiatives to optimize operating room performance.
- Evaluate nursing practice related to plan of care.
- Exhibit proficiency in scrubbing and circulating in vascular, endovascular, and thoracic surgeries.
- Assist with procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Displays expertise in working in the hybrid room and with robotic thoracic surgery
- Supervise the assembling of sterile and non-sterile equipment for surgery.
- Is able to assemble special instruments and equipment vascular, endovascular, and thoracic procedures.
- Initiates a process that will assure all equipment and supplies are maintained in working order.
- Maintain physician preference cards for vascular/endovascular/thoracic surgery.
- Appraise operating room for cleanliness, operational efficiency of equipment and electrical appliances, temperature, humidity, and air circulation.
- Respond to emergency situations; patient emergencies, hemorrhage, arrest, fire alarm, and disaster.
- Perform and delegates nursing actions based on appropriate orders.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and accountability.
- Demonstrate critical thinking upon review of physician orders, making appropriate referrals, & contacts other health team professionals.
- Communication and Collaboration among internal and external customers.

- Engage physicians to understand their needs in order to maximize their performance, while balancing the needs of the network.
- Engage physicians on interactions with staff to ensure optimum staff performance.
- Involve physicians in quality and performance improvement initiatives, capital and operational budgeting.
- Target and support new surgeons interested in performing surgery within the Network.
- Provide in the moment feedback and coaching to employees and physicians
- Provide feedback and recommendations to management on employee performance appraisals and corrective actions.
- Routine rounding with staff and physicians with documented results and follow up plan.
- Collaborate with Charge Nurse in assigning qualified staff.
- Collaborate with CVOR Charge Nurse in assigning staff and facilitating resource use.
- Collaborate with other disciplines in the resolution of systems issues.
- Collaborate effectively with other users of the Hybrid Room (Cath Lab, IR) to ensure a cohesive working relationship.
- Foster effective working relationships among members of the medical staff, nursing staff, and all other disciplines and departments of the hospital.
- Represent the hospital in all interactions with consumers, physicians, and the public.
