Making a Difference in the NICU Cincinnati Children’s is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or neonatal-trained Physician Assistant (PA) to provide advanced neonatal care in a busy 60-bed Level III community NICU. This role offers the opportunity to care for premature and medically complex newborns in one of Ohio’s highest-delivering hospitals while working alongside neonatologists, subspecialty providers, fellows, pediatric residents, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

The unit cares for infants from approximately 22 to 42 weeks gestation and provides a collaborative teaching environment that supports professional growth, evidence-based practice, and family-centered care.

Role Overview The NNP or neonatal-trained PA will assess, diagnose, and manage newborns requiring Level III neonatal intensive care. This position is well suited for a provider who enjoys delivery room stabilization, collaborative clinical decision-making, and caring for critically ill infants in a high-volume NICU setting. The provider will partner closely with the neonatal team to deliver safe, evidence-based care and communicate effectively with families throughout the NICU hospitalization.

• Provide advanced clinical care for premature and medically complex newborns in a 60-bed Level III NICU.
• Perform neonatal assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and manage common and complex neonatal conditions.
• Participate in delivery room stabilization and ongoing management of critically ill newborns.
• Perform neonatal procedures within scope of practice and maintain required competencies.
• Collaborate with neonatologists, fellows, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during rounds and clinical decision-making.
• Communicate clearly with parents and families about the infant’s condition, treatment plan, progress, and discharge needs.
• Support quality improvement, evidence-based practice, clinical education, and safe transitions of care.

• Busy 60-bed Level III NICU located within one of Ohio’s highest-delivering hospitals.
• Care for infants approximately 22 to 42 weeks gestation, with a strong focus on prematurity and neonatal critical care.
• Teaching environment with neonatal fellows and pediatric residents.
• Collaborative relationship with Cincinnati Children’s Neonatal Specialists and multidisciplinary partners.

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Eligibility for Ohio APRN licensure and prescriptive authority.
• Neonatal clinical provider experience preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Patient Care
- Perform history and/or physical exams on patients presenting for care in area of expertise. Assess and diagnose illnesses, including chronic and acute conditions.
