Job DetailsThe Chief Nursing Officer will provide executive leadership for nursing and related clinical operations across the hospital.
The CNO currently oversees approximately 10 direct reports, including four Nurse Supervisors, one Nurse Manager, Infection Control, Clinical Education, Respiratory Therapy, Dialysis Management, and Wound Care.
The nursing supervisory structure includes two day supervisors and two night supervisors. Current nurse-to-patient ratios generally run approximately 1:7–8 depending on patient acuity.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead nursing operations, clinical standards, staffing, and patient-care delivery across the hospital
- Manage and develop nursing managers, supervisors, and other clinical department leaders
- Partner closely with the CEO, HR Director, and senior leadership team
- Maintain appropriate staffing and nursing coverage based on census and patient acuity
- Support quality, infection-control, education, and regulatory-compliance initiatives
- Provide leadership around Joint Commission readiness and ongoing hospital compliance
- Identify opportunities to strengthen nursing operations, including night-shift supervisory coverage
- BSN required
- Master’s degree required
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a hospital environment
- Minimum 2 years of nursing management experience
- Director-level nursing leadership experience strongly preferred
- Experienced Nurse Managers may be considered when coming from a complex hospital unit with significant leadership responsibility
- Candidates with SNF experience must also bring meaningful hospital experience
- Strong understanding of hospital nursing operations, staffing, clinical quality, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead effectively within an established senior leadership team
We are a 40-bed hospital in the Norwood, Ohio area with an established and tenured senior leadership team. The organization is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer to take ownership of nursing operations and provide hands‑on executive leadership across the hospital.
With a budgeted average daily census of approximately 35, this is an opportunity to lead within a hospital where the CNO can remain close to clinical operations, nursing leadership, staffing, quality, and patient care.
