Vet-Owned. People-First.

Be the clinical anchor of a hospital where medicine, culture, and leadership are shaped from the start.

Acute Pet Urgent Care is opening in White Oak, OH, and we’re seeking a Managing Veterinarian to help establish the medical direction, team culture, and operational rhythm of this brand new location.

This isn’t inheriting someone else’s systems. It’s building them with intention.

The Opportunity

As Managing Veterinarian, you’ll:

• Set the clinical tone and standards of care

• Mentor and develop associate DVMs

• Partner closely with the Practice Manager to shape workflows and team culture

• Collaborate with our Chief Medical Officer, a board-certified criticalist, for ongoing medical guidance and case support

• Help recruit and build a team aligned around thoughtful, sustainable urgent care medicine

You’ll practice high-quality urgent care without overnights or major holidays - while also stepping into meaningful leadership.

Why White Oak?

Cincinnati’s West Side is a dense, family-centered community with strong primary care relationships and increasing demand for accessible urgent care.

Our White Oak hospital will deliver emergency-level medicine in an urgent care setting - designed for:

Sustainability

• Clinical confidence

• Collaboration

• Long-term team retention

You’ll see cases like:

• Lacerations and minor trauma

• GI obstruction workups

• Toxin ingestions

• Acute vomiting/diarrhea

• Urgent diagnostics and stabilization

All with structured support and no ER-style burnout schedule.

Who This Role Is Built For

This position is ideal for:

• An experienced emergency veterinarian ready to lead without overnight intensity

• A strong GP with urgent care or ER experience who wants to mentor others

• A current leader looking for autonomy without corporate pressure

What It’s Like to Work at Acute Pet

We’re a vet-owned organization built by people who understand the real demands of this profession. Our leadership team includes experienced DVMs, Managing Veterinarians, and a board-certified criticalist serving as Chief Medical Officer.

Our operational leaders bring real-world hospital experience - ensuring teams are supported, not squeezed.

We value:

• Collaboration over hierarchy

• Mentorship without micromanagement

Transparent communication

• Sustainable scheduling

• Real investment in your well-being

We believe strong leadership creates strong medicine.

What We’re Looking For

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent)

• 3+ years clinical experience preferred

• Urgent care or ER comfort strongly preferred

• Interest in mentorship and team development

• Strong clinical reasoning and calm decision-making

• Clear, compassionate client communication

• Desire to help build systems - not just follow them

What We Offer

• Competitive base salary + 25% production (whichever is greater), no negative accrual

• Leadership stipend for Managing Veterinarian responsibilities

• No overnights or major holidays

• Up to six weeks paid parental/adoptive leave

• Paid time off that supports life outside of work

• 100% company-paid health, dental, and life insurance premiums

• Vision, disability, HSA, 401(k), and Employee Assistance Program

• Employee pet care discounts

• Dedicated leadership development support

• Continuing education funding

• No non-competes. No contracts.

If you’re ready to lead a hospital that reflects your standards, your integrity, and your commitment to building teams the right way - let’s talk.

You could be the one who sets the tone.
