Care Center located in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a fulltime Veterinary Assistant to join our outstanding surgical team for the summer! If you’re passionate about veterinary medicine, eager to gain hands‑on experience, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment, we’d love to meet you.

Schedule: Fulltime position, schedule will vary - weekdays only
Pay Range: $17–20/hour depending on experience

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Support

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Monitor and support surgical and hospitalized patients
  • Perform surgical prep and follow operating room protocols
  • Maintain surgical equipment and prepare lab samples

Communication & Client Education

  • Share organized updates with the care team
  • Provide pet owners with clear home‑care instructions and updates
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless care

Hospital Maintenance & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient hospital environment
  • Accurately document patient care and treatments
Essential Skills
  • Patient restraint skills, including behavioral assessment and safe handling
  • Ability to stay focused in a fast‑paced work environment
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or higher education
  • Prior clinical or animal handling experience preferred (but not required)
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
