Xavier University is looking to hire a Groundskeeper for the Officeof Physical Plant. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain a safe and beautiful campus according to Xavier standards.

Includes but not limited to sports fields, landscaping, and mowcrew assistance.

• Operates hand and power tools to cut, trim, edge grass, turf,and (maintain athletic fields by dragging, laying out, lining, and painting) applies chemicals, prunes trees and shrubs, trim hedges,mulches, removes snow, etc. All while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following all established safety procedures.
• Applies top soil, grades surfaces; prepares seed beds, plantsbulbs; trims hedges, shrubs, and trees; weeds flower beds, and removes trees and shrubs by lifting or moving heavy equipment or material un assisted up to 125 pounds. Lifts or moves heavier itemsby communicating with assistance.
• Picks up litter, trash, and removes trash and recycling fromcans; keeps records of work performed, time and material used and similar maintenance data and reports the same. Also responsible fortaking scrap metal recyclables to the recycling center.
• Services and repairs, cleans, and performs daily and preventative maintenance on grounds equipment and shop.
• Assists other departments in related activities (sets up and delivers equipment, furniture, supplies, and Christmas lights,etc.)

• High school diploma or GED required
• Vocational or technical training preferred
• 1-3 years of relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Pesticide license preferred
• Continuing education
