Location: Cincinnati, OH
Pay Rate: $19.00 - $22.00/hour
Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Why This Role MattersAs a Lab Assistant in Histology, you will play an important role in supporting laboratory operations and ensuring specimens and slides are accurately processed and distributed. Your work helps contribute to timely and accurate diagnostic results that support patient care.
What You’ll Do- Receive, accession, scan, and distribute specimens and slides to physicians
- File tissue blocks, dispose of laboratory waste, and pull/match slides as needed
- Assist with the preparation of histopathology specimens and slides under general supervision
- Label and prepare tissue specimens for gross dissection
- Process paperwork associated with specimen accessioning and reporting
- Monitor inventory levels and stock laboratory supplies
- Clean, sterilize, organize, and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment
- Perform manual and automated cover slipping of stained slides
- Complete assigned clerical and administrative duties
- Follow all health, quality, and safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment
- A current, up-to‑date resume
- High School Diploma (required)
- Some college‑level science coursework preferred
- Previous histopathology or laboratory experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures accurately
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Laboratory Information Systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with laboratory work
- Ability to meet compliance requirements
