Job Description
This role focuses on performing laboratory testing and analysis on concrete, asphalt, aggregates, soils, and other construction materials to verify compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Working in a controlled geotechnical laboratory environment, the Lab Technician plays a critical role in delivering accurate, high‑quality test results that support infrastructure and construction projects. The position involves preparing samples, operating and maintaining testing equipment, recording and organizing data, and helping maintain laboratory compliance and organization.
Responsibilities- Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, and other construction materials, in accordance with applicable industry standards and project specifications.
- Assist with sample preparation, handling, labeling, and proper storage to ensure sample integrity, traceability, and adherence to established laboratory protocols.
- Ensure that project testing requirements are completed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
- Accurately document, analyze, and report test results, maintaining detailed, organized, and error‑free records in laboratory logs and reporting systems.
- Operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance on laboratory testing equipment to ensure reliable performance and adherence to calibration and quality standards.
- Follow strict safety protocols and laboratory procedures, including proper handling of materials, chemicals, and equipment, and consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with laboratory supervisors, field personnel, and project stakeholders, providing timely updates on test results, sample status, and any technical issues or irregularities observed during testing.
- Support the broader laboratory team, Field Technicians, and project leaders by assisting with workload management, prioritizing tests, and performing additional duties as assigned.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment, including housekeeping tasks, equipment checks, and adherence to quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Must have at least a High school diploma.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.
Pay & BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
