Position: Tech I QC Lab

Lab Technician I Job Description Position Summary

The Lab Technician I provides immediate support to Manufacturing through raw material, in-process, and finished goods inspection and testing activities. This is an entry-level position requiring significant supervision and adherence to established quality, safety, and operational procedures. Technicians are expected to work professionally, maintain accurate records, and support production and quality objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quality Documentation & Compliance

Acknowledge and process quality documentation related to production activities. Review and proofread documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain quality control records in accordance with company requirements and ISO standards. Ensure all documentation is accurate, traceable, properly labeled, filed, and maintained. Perform testing and record results in accordance with the Quality Control Manual and Quality Control Records.

Testing & Product Verification

Perform standardized quality control testing and inspections on raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Approve completed batches against established specifications. Verify products meet all quality requirements prior to release. Support investigations and resolution of quality concerns and non-conformances. Adhere to procedural accuracy in all testing activities.

Production Support

Prioritize work based on Quality Control and Production Supervisor direction. Coordinate with production personnel to ensure products meet customer and quality specifications. Support material additions and manufacturing processes to maintain product requirements. Provide quality-related support and guidance during manufacturing operations. Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Training & Procedure Compliance

Demonstrate understanding and compliance with Work Instructions (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and quality standards. Participate in required quality, safety, and operational training. Promote adherence to established quality processes and best practices.

Traceability & Material Control

Label and retain materials to ensure full product traceability. Maintain accurate identification of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. Support inventory control and sample retention requirements.

Equipment & Laboratory Management

Support calibration and verification programs for laboratory and testing equipment. Ensure testing equipment is maintained and operating properly. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

Continuous Improvement

Demonstrate best practices that support site KPIs and performance objectives. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence activities. Complete special projects as assigned by management.

Safety & Workplace Organization

Comply with all company safety rules, regulations, and practices. Demonstrate and support 5S workplace organization principles. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments, utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Complete all assigned HSI safety training with 100% compliance.

Professional Conduct

Work professionally and collaboratively with laboratory, production, and other cross-functional teams. Demonstrate good communication skills and a positive working relationship with peers and leadership. Meet regular and overtime work commitments as required.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor, Manager, or leadership team. Support departmental and site objectives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Additional education in Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Some schooling with basic laboratory exposure, technical training, or related experience.

Skills

Good communication skills. Ability to follow written procedures and instructions. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision.
