NDT Inspector

A leading defense and aerospace manufacturer seeks a certified NDT Inspector to perform non-destructive testing across multiple disciplines — Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, X-Ray, Ultrasonic, and Visual Inspection. Candidates must hold national accreditation (ASNT or equivalent) at Level I, II, or III.

Certification levels:
Level I is gaining hours toward certification. Level II holds one to three discipline certifications. Level III holds four or five.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct NDT tests and compare results against applicable specifications for acceptability.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications to guide inspection activities.
  • Inspect first-run and first-article parts, including fabrication fit-ups, weldments, and assemblies.
  • Use standard and precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions such as length, height, and angles.
  • Monitor and perform calibrations on NDT equipment and inspection instruments.
  • Examine defective parts to determine root cause and recommend process modifications.
  • Monitor welder certifications and weld procedure qualification tests for WPS compliance.
  • Verify sign-offs on travelers, check part quantities, and confirm no handling damage has occurred.
  • Write inspection reports and create charts documenting testing results with full traceability.
  • Perform internal audits in accordance with applicable quality manual, ISO, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements to eliminate waste and increase quality efficiency.

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Formal classroom training in at least two NDT disciplines with required experience hours.
  • Training in SPC data collection, chemical handling safety, and radiography required.
  • Annual eye examination required (Jaeger 1 at 12" and Ishihara Color Blindness Test).

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of certified NDT Technician experience in at least one discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years working in or around a metal joining or welding facility.
  • Minimum of 2 nationally recognized competency levels (ASNT, AWS, or equivalent).
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to establish effective corrective action.
