We are seeking an experienced Quality & Food Safety Leader to play a critical role in launching a new manufacturing facility and building a best-in-class quality and food safety culture from the ground up. This is a hands-on site leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in a startup/greenfield environment and has strong experience within USDA-regulated food manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Own the site’s Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory, SQF, HACCP, and compliance programs
- Lead quality and food safety activities throughout facility startup, commissioning, validation, and production launch
- Build and maintain the site Quality Management System and lead SQF certification
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, FSMA, GMP, HACCP, allergen control, food defense, and traceability requirements
- Develop HACCP plans, preventive controls, SOPs, verification programs, and quality documentation
- Lead regulatory inspections, customer audits, third-party certifications, investigations, CAPAs, and root-cause analysis
- Oversee laboratory operations, product testing, environmental monitoring, and product release
- Establish and improve quality and food safety KPIs
- Support equipment design, capital projects, commissioning, and hygienic design
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive Quality, Food Safety, or Regulatory experience in food manufacturing, beverage, or CPG
- USDA-regulated manufacturing experience
- PCQI certification — required
- Previous plant startup, greenfield, expansion, or major facility transformation experience
- Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, sanitation, allergen control, food defense, and traceability
- Proven experience leading audits, regulatory inspections, CAPAs, and quality management systems
- Experience developing HACCP plans, SOPs, food safety programs, and compliance documentation
- Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment and build strong cross-functional relationships
