Customer Quality Liaison Engineer

Your First 90 Days In your opening weeks, you become the go-to conduit between our customers and our plant teams. You'll join daily production huddles, review customer scorecards, and stand up fast containment when an issue appears. By day 30, you're leading 8D problem-solving sessions, validating corrective actions on the line, and coaching teams on 5 Whys and mistake-proofing. At 90 days, you're steering continuous improvement charters, supporting new product launches with PPAP deliverables, and verifying that product and process audits align with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 expectations.

What

You'll Drive
  • Create and sustain a safe, compliant, and quality-first environment while following company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary quality interface to customers - triage concerns, coordinate internal responses, and communicate status through customer systems and scorecards.
  • Lead investigations of customer-reported issues: complete root-cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Six Sigma), implement corrective and preventive actions, and verify permanence on the shop floor.
  • Deploy rapid countermeasures - containment, inspection, sorting - when quality events affect customers or production.
  • Support new products and processes: define quality requirements, create documentation, manage validation activities, and deliver customer-required PPAP/APQP packages.
  • Strengthen production readiness: drive early-production quality initiatives that detect and prevent issues before they reach the customer.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Operations to improve products, processes, equipment capability, and overall quality performance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving and promote consistent use of structured quality methodologies.
  • Investigate internal and external nonconformances, identify systemic causes, and implement actions to prevent recurrence; participate in material review and disposition.
  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement projects targeting quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and process reliability.
  • Support qualification and validation of components, processes, tooling, and equipment through data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct product and process audits to verify compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable quality-system expectations.
  • Create, maintain, and control quality documentation; ensure work is executed to company and customer standards.
  • Provide training and guidance on quality expectations, problem-solving tools, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Flex to additional quality-related projects as business needs evolve.
Skills & Experience You Bring
  • Hands-on experience working directly with customers in a quality, engineering, manufacturing, or technical setting.
  • Expertise with structured problem-solving (8D, 5 Whys, Six Sigma or similar) and the ability to translate data into actionable countermeasures.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality-management systems.
  • Fluency with core quality tools: SPC, APQP, FMEA, MSA, Control Plans, PPAP.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, including equipment, tooling, inspection methods, and process controls.
  • Experience using statistical/quality software (e.g., Minitab) and competency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.
  • Clear, concise communication skills and the confidence to engage customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organization, analysis, problem-solving, and time-management habits; detail-focused with reliable follow-through.
  • Comfort working independently and within cross-functional teams; professionalism, accountability, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Track record of improving processes to achieve better outcomes for customers and internal teams.

Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing/quality experience will be considered.
