Summary:

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about the Mission of Greenacres and our values. They will have a demonstrable education and experience in biological principles along with a passion for learning. The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the development of the Greenacres Research department in accordance with the overall scope of the Greenacres Mission.

The Research Assistant will work as a member of the Research department under the supervision of the Research Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field work and collect data in both agricultural and ecological environments
  • Organize, input, and summarize research data
  • Assist in preparing project reports, articles, and presentations
  • Ensure ready access to all experimental data for the Research team
  • Attend project meetings and actively contribute
  • Summarize project results clearly and accurately
  • Track progress of monitoring sites over time
  • Travel to field sites across all Greenacres properties
  • Contribute to the development of research protocols
  • Safely operate field equipment as specified by study protocols
  • Maintain and care for field equipment
  • Engage and collaborate with community partners in Greenacres Research
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, botany
    , or another applicable scientific field
  • Ability to solve problems and use critical thinking skills
  • Solid grasp of data organization using spreadsheets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience conducting fieldwork in agricultural, ecological, or environmental settings is preferred.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and collaborative team player with a “
    how can I help
    ” attitude.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and working in varied indoor and outdoor environments, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Commitment to working within a functional team and collaborative culture
  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test and fingerprint FBI background screen.
