Job Overview
One full‑time staff position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Kasper in the Department of Environmental & Public Health Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati.
The Kasper Laboratory integrates human primary cancer cell culture, cancer stem cell biology, mouse xenograft models, and extracellular vesicles with multiomics technologies and bioinformatics to investigate mechanisms of prostate cancer progression and metastasis. The focus is on mechanisms that drive cancer cell growth and metastasis, especially tumor‑microenvironment interactions mediated by extracellular vesicles, and on establishing prognostic and predictive biomarkers of metastasis.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly self‑motivated candidate who can work independently and cooperatively as part of a team. Candidates with a strong background in cancer biology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics are encouraged to apply. This position involves secretomes and extracellular vesicles, single‑cell sequencing analysis, and the molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer metastasis and its interaction with stromal cells in the tumor microenvironment.
Essential Functions- Conduct cutting‑edge research on prostate cancer metastasis, focusing on molecular mechanisms and cell‑cell interactions within the tumor microenvironment.
- Investigate the roles of secretomes and extracellular vesicles in cancer progression.
- Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and single‑cell sequencing technologies to analyze complex datasets.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers.
- Disseminate research findings through publication in high‑impact journals and presentations at conferences.
- Doctoral degree in Molecular Medicine, Cancer Biology, or a closely related field.
- None.
- Significant experience with assays for flow cytometry, image stream, bioassays, cellular transfections, and primary cell culture from clinical biopsy samples.
- Experience with bioinformatics, including single‑cell or spatial sequencing analyses.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong track record of scientific publications in relevant fields.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Office environment, no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
Salary/Hourly Pay Rate Information:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision, prescription).
- Flexible spending accounts and wellness programs.
- Professional development and mentorship opportunities.
- Robust retirement plans with UC contribution of 14–18% of salary.
- Comprehensive tuition remission for employee and eligible dependents.
- Generous time‑off policy: vacation, sick time, 11 paid holidays, additional end‑of‑year paid time off, 6 weeks of paid parental leave.
