Job Overview
A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chelsie Brewer. The scholar will have the opportunity to conduct basic and translationally relevant pain research in the Department of Anesthesiology. The Brewer laboratory currently focuses on the downstream effects of inflammation and injury on the pain‑transmitting circuits of the nervous system, with a specific interest in knee osteoarthritis. This work involves electrophysiology, calcium imaging, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, neural circuit tracing, and behavioral analysis.
The laboratory aims to use mouse models and human tissues in culture to determine how injury and disease affect the function and connectivity of peripheral and central neurons.
- Design and conduct experiments.
- Analyze data and communicate results through meetings, conferences, and manuscripts.
- Collaborate with laboratory members and colleagues.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in the field and share relevant findings with the research team.
- May contribute to training and/or supervision of colleagues.
- The incumbent will conduct experiments and analyze data in compliance with the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.
MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience or a related field (Bioinformatics, genetics, etc.)
