Job OverviewA part‑time, temporary Sr Research Associate staff position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Frank McCormack in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University. The role will conduct experimental research in genetic interstitial lung disease and manage laboratory processes.
Essential Functions- Coordinate research studies in life sciences, social sciences, environmental sciences, or public health.
- Make independent contributions to projects based on training and experience.
- Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging validity.
- Independently decide how to solve issues and rely on own resources.
- Contribute to the team effort.
- Establish test controls, criteria, and research standards.
- Design complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
- Accomplish assigned results for projects or significant aspects of larger tasks.
- Serve as a seasoned researcher and mentor junior staff.
- Provide direct or indirect supervision to exempt and non‑exempt staff.
- Perform related duties as needed; this description may change.
- Bachelor's Degree in basic sciences.
- Three (3) years of experience in lab and staff management.
- Hands‑on skills: human and mouse lung organoids, iPSC reprogramming, CRISPR‑Cas9 editing, flow cytometry, RNA, DNA and protein methods, immunofluorescence, microscopy, animal surgery, mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, cell culture, laboratory space and data maintenance, mentorship of residents, fellows, graduate and undergraduate students.
- Advanced degree.
