Animal Research Assistant

Location:

Blue Ash, OH

Compensation: $26.50 - $35.75/hr

Hours:

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Overview

This client is an industry-leading biomedical research and development company focused on upholding the highest standards of research. In this role, you’ll be working closely with leaders, colleagues, and external partners to assist in research and testing, collect and manage data, and coordinate appropriate project or study logistics while ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance. This role offers opportunities to learn advanced research techniques, work alongside scientific innovators, and directly impact medical advancements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop study-related documentation to meet GLP, SOP, and protocol requirements, including study-specific data sheets, binder setup, and animal-related documentation
  • Set up pre-study meetings and coordinate project logistics (equipment/instrument requests, scheduling, animal orders, and drug orders)
  • Manage receipt, submission, and transfer of test/control articles
  • Participate in laboratory clean-up post-surgery and necropsy setup/support, which may require weekend work
  • Support conduct of histopathology work tasks, including specimen management, transfer, and receipt to external laboratories
  • Act as Test/Control Article Dispensary Clerk when assigned
  • Collect, verify, and quality control intra-operative data
  • Assist study director in addressing QAU audit findings
  • Prepare final reporting documents and support final data review
  • Interface with principal investigators, contributing scientists, internal/external partners, and regulatory agencies
  • Uphold the highest standards of biomedical research and development by meeting USDA, AAALAC, DEA, J&J Animal Use Policies, and GLP regulations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other closely related STEM field (required)
  • Knowledge of both human and animal anatomy/physiology
  • Experience working with large animals in laboratory, research, or veterinary settings
  • Experience in a GLP regulated environment
  • Ability to understand and precisely follow Standard Operating Procedures
  • Exceptional attention to detail, able to spot and correct errors swiftly
  • Strong background in data collection, data management, and data integrity
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Safety-minded in workspace organization and conduct
  • Accountable for actions and work; able to admit mistakes
  • Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Leadership and public speaking skills preferred, but not required
