Pulmonary Biology Assistant or Associate Professor - Research

The Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Pulmonary Biology. This role suits a researcher with a background in foundational aspects of lung biology, or a closely related field applicable to the lung, eager to incorporate AI and genomic techniques into their future research. The candidate is expected to have an active research program with a strong funding and training record.

• Lead a robust research program in foundational lung biology areas.
• Embrace and apply AI and genomic methodologies to enhance and diversify research.
• Strengthen the division’s comprehensive understanding of lung cell lineages, including epithelial, endothelial, mesenchymal, and immune cells.
• Provide mentorship to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students, enriching the academic and research environment.
• Effectively manage research funding and contribute to the division’s resource development.

• PhD and/or MD with significant experience in lung biology or a closely related field applicable to lung biology.
• Established track record of research funding and significant publications.
• Demonstrated mentorship and research training experience.
• Interest in integrating AI and genomics into lung biology research.

• Conduct research both independently and collaboratively, ensuring the highest quality and fiscal soundness.
• May contribute toward a major research or teaching training program(s) and mentor graduate students, post‑doctoral and research fellows, residents, and students.
• Complete evaluations for students, residents and peers; remain current in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars; implement knowledge into research.
• Participate in program development for service and/or administration, including performance improvement programs, committees (e.g., IRB), and research committees.
• Promote interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, develop and implement long‑ and short‑term goals and objectives, and manage annual fiscal operating and equipment budgets.
• Engage in scholarly activities, including initiating, soliciting, and coordinating new well‑designed research projects with potential for external funding; present results at scientific meetings.
• Collaborate and write major grant proposals to secure substantial extramural support from sources such as NIH, NSF, and other national or regional agencies.
• Publish results of research via independent and collaborative writings; maintain quality control programs and ensure corrective action is taken when necessary.
