Job Overview

The College of Medicine Department of Cancer Biology is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team. The appointment focuses on mechanistic and translational liver disease research, specifically investigating the metabolic dysregulation underlying Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The incumbent will work closely with the Principal Investigator and use advanced in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models to uncover novel disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets.

• Conduct research experiments within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
• Gather and analyze data, developing new ideas that promote current research.
• Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.
• Assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations; may assist in grant writing.
• Keep informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and order supplies as needed.
• Teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
• Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
• Seek career and research advice from faculty supervisors and other faculty members.

• Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree.

• In-depth knowledge of a specialized field, process, or discipline.
• Experience with specialized software programs if required.
• Proven track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals, specifically within liver research or closely related fields.
• Extensive experience handling mouse research, liver function assays, and related liver gene delivery.
