The laboratory of Dr. Susan Waltz in the Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine currently has a postdoctoral fellow position open. The postdoctoral candidate will choose to work under the mentorship of one of 10preceptors. Possible areas of research include:

• Mechanistic studies of signaling pathways that regulate cancer cell survival and tumor growth in renal cancer (Maria Czyzyk-Krzeska).
• Biophysics of membrane fusion and autophagy in the regulation of chemotherapy resistance (Jiajie Diao).
• Tyrosine kinase signaling in the regulation of breast cancer stem cells and angiogenesis, autophagy in breast cancer,neural stem cells and neurodegenerative diseases (Jun-Lin Guan).
• Understanding the interplay of oncogenic signaling and metabolism in the growth of gastrointestinal cancer (Krushna Patra)

• Conduct research experiments in a particular field withinthe pre-determined research scope and methodology.
• Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
• Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
• Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
• May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
• Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
• Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
