Overview
As a Home Energy Consultant (Retail), you will be responsible for acquiring new customers and promoting a wide variety of products within a retail location. Become a subject‑matter expert on all offerings and utilize proven sales techniques to build relationships. This role is full‑time and offers competitive benefits, a base salary, and uncapped commissions with great opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Responsibilities- Represent Just Energy or IGS Energy to acquire and retain customers by providing an exceptional customer experience at retail stores.
- Utilize a consultative selling approach to discover each customer’s unique needs and recommend natural gas, electricity and alternative energy products.
- Consistently achieve all sales objectives and follow established departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
- Build confidence, generate excitement, and maintain interest and professionalism by using listening and negotiation skills when confronted with objections or skepticism.
- Develop collaborative working relationships with other sales representatives, retail store managers, and retail employees.
- Proactively learn and effectively demonstrate full understanding of current product programs and offerings; communicate clearly to assist customers in making informed decisions.
- Highly sales‑motivated with excellent customer service, retention, and sales closing skills.
- Proven understanding of the business, lives the company values, and is committed to continuous learning and development.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism; ability to connect with a diverse array of customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrates patience, a positive attitude, and the ability to identify and overcome customer objections.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills focused on education.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate information related to selling techniques.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Can work independently and maintain a flexible schedule to meet performance expectations.
High school diploma or equivalent experience in retail or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in sales, customer retention, or account management is required. Must be flexible to work second‑shift hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends as needed, and have reliable transportation to and from the job and training sites.
Physical DemandsThe employee must be able to stand for extended periods at a booth in a retail location, regularly sit, stand, and walk; use hands and fingers to operate an iPad; and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs (iPad, training binders, marketing materials, etc.).
Work AuthorizationApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis. Sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.
CompensationSalary range: $55,000.00 – $ (base pay only). In addition, this role is eligible for an uncapped sales commission.
