Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Role:

Nisbet Brower is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead the daily operations of our accounting department. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is critical to ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting overall financial and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep accounting knowledge, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally within a dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, contract billing, cash management, fixed assets, and job costing
• Lead timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare internal financial statements and reports for executive review
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
• Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with operations on cost accounting and inventory valuation
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, promoting accountability and growth
• Partner with CFO on financial strategy, risk management, and special initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices
• Industry experience in manufacturing, construction, or building materials strongly preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
• Experience with Power BI and/or SQL reporting is a plus
• Familiarity with Paycom or other HRIS systems is beneficial
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Primarily office-based; must be able to work at a computer for extended periods
• Occasional travel to other company locations or meetings with vendors/auditors
