Job Overview

Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals for the department and monitor quality assurance standards. • Maintain knowledge of products and make suggestions to customers.
• Assist with preparation of produce platters and trays.
• Inform customers of produce specials.
• Recommend items to ensure customers receive the products they want and need.
• Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise.
• Review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate management of needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud to store management.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

• Comparable retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
