Position Summary

Assistant Store Managers are the heart of the Lids brand. They support the store manager by leading associates, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining store performance. The role is responsible for managing daily operations, training, merchandising, and teamwork within a fun, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

People & Training

  • Act as Manager on duty for scheduling, customer complaints, and other issues when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Lead associates through LIDS training programs, goal setting, and regular follow‑up.
  • Administer progressive discipline steps, including verbal and written warnings.
  • Recruit, train, and coach store personnel on operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Encourage compliance with company policies, inventory protection, and cash handling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Customer Experience

  • Execute the selling strategy to reach KPIs and sales targets while delivering exceptional service.
  • Resolve customer feedback and escalations, ensuring a “make it right” approach.
  • Promote Lids membership programs and in‑store offers.
  • Maintain visual merchandising standards, signage, and store cleanliness.
  • Adhere to the Company Dress Code Policy.

Operations

  • Implement company‑wide promotions and initiatives.
  • Follow the Policies & Procedures Manual for safety and compliance.
  • Maintain store technology (MPOS, Lids Custom, etc.) through daily audits and maintenance.
  • Manage store facilities, supplies, and repair requests.
  • Handle cash accurately, including till opening/closing, counterfeit protection, and bank drops.
  • Prepare for and support inventory audits.
  • Open and close the store following the Operations P&P Manual.

Product & Inventory Management

  • Protect company assets in line with LIDS Retail policies.
  • Prepare store schedules for proper coverage and wage control.
  • Manage inventory processes: receiving, transferring, price changes, and product counts.
  • Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency.
  • Execute visual merchandising, window activations, and seasonal product changes.
  • Maintain the store’s look through day‑to‑day VM actions.
  • Adjust pricing signage and promotion displays during operating hours.
Requirements
  • Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
Physical Demands & Requirements
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional ladder climbing and overhead work.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to hear, speak, and visually monitor the store.
  • Ability to operate a computer and mobile POS system.
