Job Description

  • Responsible for executing, monitoring, and training inventory best practices and SOPs for both front end and pharmacy.
  • Supports pharmacy inventory management activities, including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
  • Champions On‑Shelf Availability, responsible for receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and all in‑store inventory processes.
  • Validates and ensures accuracy of planograms.
  • Reviews and coordinates the proper use of reports and system applications impacting accuracy of front end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.
  • Executes and maintains front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques, filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, damaged goods including prescription drugs.
  • Opens and closes the store in the absence of management, handles required systems, cash handling, cashier responsibilities, and prepares floor/stockroom.
Customer Experience
  • Engages customers with greetings and assistance, resolves issues when acting as leader on duty.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
Operations
  • Executes and coaches team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes including order creation, review, and receipt.
  • Scans all deliveries while vendor is in store, focuses on One Box receiving, takes appropriate action for received, missed, or inaccurate orders.
  • Under pharmacist supervision verifies all pharmacy shipments, completes postings for pharmacy warehouse orders, ABC prescription, OTC, secondary vendor, flu, dropship orders, and reports shortages or damage.
  • Completes on‑shelf availability (OSA) end‑to‑end process, disposals, call‑ins, vendor returns before expiration, scan outs/de‑outs on all subscribed departments.
  • Under pharmacist supervision completes pharmacy inventory activities: recalls, waste policy, vendor returns, non‑controlled, damaged salvage, excess inventory returns, inter‑store transfers, and claims posting.
  • Executes all pricing activities: price changes, markdowns, deletes, basic department pricing, daily price changes, signage, regulatory pricing tasks.
  • Supports front end and pharmacy ordering by ordering expense items, monitors manual orders to identify excess orders, maintains consigned inventory.
  • Ensures pull & quarantine items are updated and placed in designated holding area.
  • Maintains accurate inventory counts and on‑hand quantities across all departments.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages, tobacco).
  • Assists in maintenance of inventory records, receives and posts all products in inventory systems, organizes files, retains invoices/receipts/return authorizations.
  • Prepares for physical inventory and supports day activities, including preparing sales floor, stockroom, pharmacy, and auditing third‑party team.
  • Supports keeping all counters and shelves clean and merchandised.
  • Knowledgeable of all store systems and equipment.
  • Assists and coaches store team on package delivery activities, scanning in/out of packages, daily inventory functions, package returns, and Pickup Program.
  • When acting as leader on duty, registers all related sales, manages POS tasks, returns, voids, refunds, cash drops, and provides change.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes additional activities and tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Attends company‑based trainings and completes all e‑learning modules including safety training requirements.
  • Obtains and maintains a valid pharmacy license or certification as required by state.
Communications
  • Serves as liaison between management and non‑management team, coaching others and reporting disciplinary issues and customer complaints.
Qualifications
  • Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal) or one year of prior retail work experience (external).
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage execution.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
