Job Overview

Customer Engagement Specialist (CES) – Product Marketing, OTTAVA – Med Tech, Surgery organization.

Location:

Cincinnati, Ohio or Santa Clara, California.

Purpose

The CES reports to the Director of Customer Engagement, OTTAVA. The role is accountable for developing and delivering educational content throughout the customer journey in Robotics and Digital Solutions, supporting the global launch and marketing of Ethicon’s OTTAVA robotic surgery system.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Professional Education, R&D, and external partners to educate internal and external customers on safe and effective use of J&J surgical robotic systems.
  • Deliver technical hands‑on education to surgical teams on proper set‑up, use, and tear‑down of the OTTAVA Surgical System.
  • Utilize customer insights and ongoing Voice‑of‑Customer to refine content effectiveness through continuous improvement with cross‑functional partners.
  • Maximize integration with ongoing strategic and commercial objectives.
  • Support execution of marketing and commercial launch activities for the OTTAVA System as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum four (4) years in progressive Healthcare Commercial roles (e.g., Sales, Sales Training, Professional Education, Marketing, or Sales Management) or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in medical device education (external or internal stakeholder training).
  • Strong technological and business aptitude.
  • Ability to understand and translate technically complex concepts.
  • Strong influence management, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage internal and external customer relationships.
  • Ability to work with multiple cross‑functional partners and across global markets, including Sales, Marketing, Professional Education, and R&D.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, conflict management, and customer engagement skills.
  • Preference for robotic and/or large capital commercial/customer experience.
  • Intellectual curiosity and learning agility.
  • Up to 40% domestic/international travel required.
