Position Overview
As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will cultivate relationships, develop new business, and provide innovative solutions to help customers achieve their goals.
Responsibilities- Pursue new customers, research industry and market trends, and identify prospective customers within the territory.
- Develop sales strategies highlighting products, services, values, and solutions, and present them to prospective customers.
- Deepen and strengthen existing customer relationships through regular visits (weekly, bi‑weekly, or monthly), business reviews, and ongoing training on product offerings.
- Identify opportunities within existing customers' businesses where Gordon Food Service can add value through product and service offerings.
- Balance new customer acquisition and existing customer relationship management in territory management.
- Coordinate visits to prospective and existing customers and communicate order status and processing updates.
During the first 90 days, training includes e‑learning, classroom sessions, video role‑plays, job shadowing, and peer mentorship to cover:
- Using Gordon Food Service systems, processes, and tools to manage relationships.
- Products available to customers.
- Sales process for engaging new customers.
- Establishing relationships in the Gordon Food Service network.
- Best practices for customer and prospect relationships.
- Territory management strategies.
- High School Diploma/GED required;
Bachelor’s degree and/or culinary certificate preferred. - Minimum 1 year of sales, business, or food service experience.
- Valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Letter of support from management if currently working for a Gordon Food Service customer.
