Home Equity Relationship Manager Overview
The Home Equity Relationship Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing home equity relationships through proactive outbound calling, lead generation, consultative needs discovery, and disciplined pipeline management. This role identifies and develops home equity opportunities, deepens member relationships, guides borrowers through the lending process, and delivers solutions that align with member goals while meeting Credit Union guidelines, production expectations, and service standards.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Develop, manage, and retain a book of business by proactively generating leads, conducting outbound calls, building referral opportunities, and maintaining ongoing member relationships
- Execute outbound calling strategies to contact prospective members, existing members, past applicants, and identified lead segments to create new home equity opportunities
- Track, prioritize, and convert leads through consistent follow-up, clear next steps, and effective use of sales and loan origination systems
- Use a consultative approach to uncover member needs, understand financial goals, and recommend appropriate home equity products based on the member’s overall situation
- Maintain a healthy pipeline by following up on new leads, existing opportunities, referrals, and past member interactions to improve conversion and support production goals
- Guide members through the home equity application process from initial conversation through origination, ensuring clarity, responsiveness, and a high-quality member experience
- Review and analyze financial information from all relevant parties to assess borrowing needs and support accurate loan structuring
- Originate and evaluate home equity applications in accordance with Credit Union guidelines, product parameters, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor the status of applications and maintain timely communication with members and internal partners to help move loans efficiently through the process
- Document member interactions, outbound calling activity, lead status, follow-up commitments, and pipeline movement to support service consistency, accountability, and portfolio growth
- Partner with branch teams, internal departments, and other referral sources to identify member needs, promote home equity solutions, and support a consistent member experience
- Place the member’s needs first while balancing service, sound lending judgment, and adherence to policy
- Maintain the required MLO designation and engage in continuing education as needed
- Understand and comply with all federal and state regulations associated with this position
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, sales, and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively
- Meet established expectations for outbound activity, lead follow-up, pipeline management, member experience, and home equity production
- Maintain working knowledge of loan origination and servicing systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED is required
- 2+ years prior experience in mortgage lending and/or consumer loan origination
- Demonstrated experience with outbound calling, lead generation, sales outreach, or relationship-based business development preferred
- Ability to build, manage, and grow a sales pipeline through proactive follow-up, referral development, and member outreach
- Proven ability to work well within a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and analyze financial information and accurately perform complex financial calculations
- Thorough and detailed understanding of credit union policies and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
