Ramboll invites you to bring your geology and environmental field skills into play as you follow regulatory requirements to support our Site Solutions group with a variety of environmental and engineering projects. To succeed in this role, you must have a BS in Geology or related engineering or science degree and have 2-7 years of experience in a related field. The successful candidate will assist with managing and occasionally gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.

You will join our Site Solutions team

As our new Geologist, you will be part of our interdisciplinary team in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will work with all levels of expertise, from entry-level team members to those with decades of experience, many of whom are subject matter experts. Our environment promotes continual learning through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training.

Ramboll engineers, geologists, and scientists deliver site-specific solutions addressing all aspects of remediation—from site investigation and feasibility studies to risk assessment, remedy selection, remedial design, construction, management, and site reuse.

The ideal candidate will apply their experience and skills to various media (e.g., vadose zone, sediment, soil, groundwater surface water interface), contaminants (e.g., in organics, organics, chlorinated solvents), and sources (e.g., industrial sites, landfills, chemical industries). This position is technical, aimed at a motivated, self-starting individual eager to grow into a project management role. We will support skill development across service areas.

Primary duties include assisting Project Managers with field studies, data collection, data analysis, and developing remediation strategies.

Qualified candidates will have a strong technical focus, emerging project management skills, and demonstrated abilities in:

  • Critical thinking for data analysis and report writing based on environmental data and regulatory criteria.
  • Field collection of soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor samples.
  • Geologic well logging, monitoring well construction, and development.
  • Experience with aquifer testing (pump tests, slug tests) and analysis is a plus.
  • Proficiency with field equipment (PID, gas meters, pumps, probes, monitors) and troubleshooting.
  • Proven safety record and adherence to SOPs and client guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

  • BS in Geology or related engineering/science degrees are considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • 2-7 years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Ability to perform outdoor field activities requiring physical exertion.
  • Participation in professional associations is a plus.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in GIS and GPS platforms is a significant plus.

Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, and exerting force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
