The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is seeking a highly motivated early career Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio to support various environmental projects primarily within the Midwest, predominately within Ohio.
Position SummaryThis position will support a variety of contracts with federal, state, and commercial clients, with a focus on brownfield redevelopment projects.
Essential Job Functions- Completing field data collection activities, including soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling.
- Conducting Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments.
- Conducting UST closure and corrective action investigations.
- Logging and USCS classification of collected soil cores.
- Field oversight and management of subcontractors during completion of geophysical surveys and private utility clearances; drilling and installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil gas probes; and excavation and other remedial activities.
- Conducting asbestos surveys and lead‑based paint inspections.
- Performing asbestos and lead paint abatement oversight activities.
- Support in preparation of technical reports, including data tabulation, interpretation, and presentation within tables and figures.
- Communication and interaction with vendors, clients, and subcontractors.
Position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is required.
Required Qualifications- B.S./B.A. in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 3+ years of environmental consulting or related experience.
- Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
- Previous experience with site investigations, remediation, or field sampling (including Ohio EPA VAP and/or Ohio BUSTR) preferred, but not required.
- OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER with 8‑Hour Refresher.
- Asbestos certification.
- Must be able to walk around project sites in all types of terrain and be physically able to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
- Must be able to complete annual medical monitoring program.
This position will require outdoor work within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions. Overnight travel may also be required.
Additional InformationThis is a full‑time, exempt position. Occasional overtime as needed based on project and field ventures. Field work and travel encompass up to 80% of the role.
