Summary:

The Analytical Chemist / QC Scientist I performs routine analytical testing and documentation to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations within a QC Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. The role focuses on residual active pharmaceutical ingredient and detergent analysis using chromatographic and instrumental techniques such as HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, and TOC. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a physical science, preferably Chemistry.

Experience with chemical testing using chromatographic techniques is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine chemical testing of residual swab samples using internally developed and validated test methods.
  • Perform pharmaceutical residual analysis using HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, and TOC techniques.
  • Recognize, investigate, and report out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, and non-routine analytical or product results.
  • Perform daily instrument calibrations and verifications as required.
  • Accurately document testing activities, analyses, observations, and results.
  • Record and report analytical results according to laboratory procedures and systems.
  • Prepare test solutions, including diluents and mobile phases.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and instrumentation.
  • Perform testing in compliance with SOPs, GMP, GLP, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain required company and facility compliance status.
  • Support internal development and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • Review and communicate analytical test results accurately and effectively.
  • Manage testing workload and schedule activities to meet required timelines.
  • Seek additional assignments when primary testing responsibilities are completed.
  • Participate in training and learning opportunities to develop technical skills.
  • Share knowledge and skills with other laboratory team members.
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, cGMPs, work instructions, analytical methods, and analyst guidelines.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Science, preferably Chemistry.
  • 1–2 years of experience performing chemical testing using chromatographic techniques is preferred.
  • Working theoretical and practical knowledge of HPLC and Mass Spectrometry.
  • Knowledge of basic instrumental technologies.
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
  • Awareness of pharmaceutical industry quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong scientific problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to identify and appropriately communicate OOS and unexpected results.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
