Job Description
The Excel Security Patrol supports Excel Development Co., Inc.’s mission in housing individuals and families by maintaining safety, order, and accountability at designated Excel Development buildings experiencing heightened activity or safety concerns. Security Personnel will serve as a visible, professional presence at the designated property entrance, patrol and monitor all front-door access, and ensure that only authorized individuals enter the building.
This role helps deter loitering, trespassing, and other disruptive or unsafe activity while maintaining a respectful, non-confrontational approach with tenants and visitors.
This is a temporary 90-day assignment, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities- Monitor front-door access to ensure that only authorized tenants and approved visitors enter the building.
- Maintain an accurate and complete visitor sign-in sheet, verifying names, purpose of visit, and tenant being seen.
- Provide a strong, visible presence to deter unauthorized activity, loitering, and individuals present for illicit or inappropriate purposes.
- Politely redirect unauthorized visitors and uphold building access rules at all times.
- Monitor security cameras via assigned software system and mobile access.
- Observe and report safety concerns, suspicious behavior, or trespass issues promptly to Property Manager(s).
- Assist internal staff in entering client units to perform well-checks, property inspections, and other in-unit needs.
- Communicate any urgent safety matters immediately through the designated reporting channels.
- Maintain professionalism, calmness, and respect in all interactions with tenants, visitors, and staff.
- Support building stability by reinforcing expectations consistently and providing accurate documentation as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Prior experience in security, patrol, building monitoring, or related roles required.
- Strong observational skills and situational awareness.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and assertive in potentially high-tension situations.
- Skilled in de-escalation tactics.
- Clear verbal communication and ability to handle interactions respectfully and firmly.
- Reliability and punctuality, with consistent adherence to assigned shifts.
- Ability to complete documentation accurately and follow reporting procedures.
- Part-time, on-site role assigned to specific buildings with elevated safety concerns.
- Six-hour shifts flexible between noon and 8:00pm.
- Temporary 90-day assignment, with potential for extension based on organizational needs and building stability.
- Requires the ability to stand or sit at the front entrance for the duration of the shift.
- Must be dependable, alert, and able to maintain a professional presence throughout the shift.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and lift at least 75 lbs.
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time; lifting at least 75 lbs; climbing stairs; climing ladders; walking; bending at the waist; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer terminal; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read and analyze data.
