Traveling Splicer

Full‑time, Non‑Exempt (Hourly). This traveling position requires multi‑week rotations with per diem and full benefits.

Our operating unit provides telecom construction services. We are looking for a Fiber Splicer to perform aerial and underground construction, splicing of fiber optic cable and communication systems for cable television.

• Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in sequence of tasks.
• Repair or splice in new line as needed to complete testing and certification of the project.
• Install all passive and active devices, enclosures, and term panels.
• Test fiber optic lines for balanced signal and continuity.
• Pull fiber optic through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit manually, by blowing or mechanically, and splice and activate underground and aerial lines.
• Optimize new nodes and splice in node splits to reduce capacity.
• Utilize light meters and OTDR accurately.
• Learn how to safely utilize bucket trucks or climb utility poles to place cables per system design.
• Close a project by completing production sheets, verifying proper levels after activation, and adjusting and troubleshooting as necessary.
• Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer, public, and compliance with all governmental orders.
• May be required to perform additional duties as directed by the company.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Work both individually and in a team environment.

• Lift and/or pull up to 80 pounds several times a day.
• Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, drills, and wrenches.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fiber optic splicing.
