In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of construction equipment, both in the shop and out in the field.

** Construction Diesel Technician Responsibilities:
** 1. Mechanical Diagnostics & Repair:
* Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
* Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues and make data-driven repairs.
2. Preventive Maintenance:
* Perform scheduled PMs on construction equipment and fleet vehicles to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
* Conduct inspections of tires, fluid levels, filters, and wear components using checklists and OEM guidelines.
3. Field Service & Emergency Repairs:
* Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field-based repairs quickly and safely.
* Communicate with operators and supervisors to assess issues and determine repair priorities.
4. Equipment Variety & Versatility:
* Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment including:
Excavators, dozers, loaders, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, trailers, and company trucks.
* Flex between shop work and field support based on operational needs.
5. Documentation & Safety Compliance:
* Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and parts used in service software or paper logs.
* Follow safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company policies at all times.
* Support DOT and OSHA compliance through proper recordkeeping and safe practices.

Qualifications:

*** 2+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment setting.
* High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred.
* Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain DOT Medical Card (CDL a plus).
* Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mobile equipment diagnostics.
* Ability to weld, fabricate, or perform basic fabrication repairs is a plus.
* Must be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or with a team.
