Summary
The Service Mobile Technician is specifically for those service technicians whose primary function is to work from a service mobile unit. The individual requires significant expertise and independent work time. The highest safety standard working on units and driving the vehicles is required for a mobile technician. Please note that no work will be conducted roadside and the equipment must be in a secure and safe environment for our personnel.
The primary function of the service technician is to diagnose and complete repairs on heavy and medium duty trucks. The technician will perform a variety of tasks on heavy-duty trucks, large construction vehicles, buses and tractor trailers, including inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, installation and repair of components and systems related to heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles.
- Perform recommended routine maintenance procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests for issues, failures and performance.
- Determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems.
- Routinely use computerized equipment and specialized tooling.
- Complete assigned repairs and tasks in a timely and safe manner.
- Accurately records time, cause and correction on Repair Orders.
- Test components that may require driving trucks before and after repairs.
- Participate in and complete technical training and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of basic computer skills and Repair Order Processing Software.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate motor vehicles; maintain a safe driving record. A current Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required.
- Working hours may include varying shifts, evenings, weekends, and potentially on-call or emergency repair shifts.
- FMCSA medical certificate is required for the mobile technician position (where applicable).
- Other requirements as listed by the employer applicable to the role.
- Mobility to move around the workshop or service area; ability to walk, stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or under vehicles.
- Vision and hearing sufficient for inspection, troubleshooting and communication.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment with precision.
- Lifting capability to lift heavy components or tools (min. 60 lbs – 150 lbs unassisted).
