Job Summary

EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a General Maintenance Technician in Cincinnati, Ohio. High quality standards are a must. The candidate must work in a team environment and possess good oral and written communication skills, professional appearance, and a good attitude. Must be self‑motivated and a self‑starter. General handyman, carpentry skills, ceiling tile replacement or repair, lock and closure repairs, wall repairs, painting, rubber base, carpet, and floor tile.

Minor plumbing repairs: unclog sinks, toilets, fix minor leaks. Electrical: replace ballast bulbs, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Check equipment at the facility daily to ensure it is running and in good working order; make repairs as necessary, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
  • Complete general building repairs, including painting of walls, doors, floors, and the replacement of plumbing fixtures, pipes, valves, drains, and toilets as needed.
  • Replace lighting components, ceiling tiles, and grids throughout the buildings and offices.
  • Maintain building lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency and exit lights, 120‑volt outlets, and photoelectric sensors controlled by the energy‑management system.
  • Maintain all equipment and inventory of supplies; handle snow removal with snowblower and calcium chloride during winter.
  • Maintain doors and door hardware, repairing or replacing as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and timely paperwork for essential duties; order MEP supplies and control stock.
  • Communicate directly with customers and managers to confirm work request understanding and handle parts ordering or delays.
  • Repair and replace carpet tile and rubber base when required.
  • Maintain tenant space to the same standards, including plumbing.
Qualifications

Education
: HS Diploma or GED.

Experience
: 4 – 6 years of related experience.

Licenses / Certifications
:
Valid driver’s license.

Language Skills
:
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Technical Qualifications & Skills
:

  • Problem‑solving in variable conditions with limited standardization.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
  • Read tape measure and perform basic math for measuring and cutting materials.
  • Work and communicate professionally in occupied spaces.
  • Availability to be on call one week per month at minimum.
Physical Demands

Stand, walk, use hands, extend arms; kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Exposure to wet or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high or precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoors with extreme cold or heat; electrical shock risk; vibration. Noise level usually loud.
