Mechanic

The City of Blue Ash is seeking qualified applicants to fill a full-time Mechanic position. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working under the direction of the Service Superintendent.

The Mechanic skilled in diesel, hydraulic, gas, and small engine machinery must be able to quickly analyze and resolve equipment problems. The mechanic will be tasked with implementing a preventive maintenance program for diesel, hydraulic, gas, and small engine machinery. The employee must possess the ability to follow instructions and possess the necessary strength to perform any assignment or task.

• Assist with the development of scheduled preventive maintenance of all City vehicles and equipment;
• Make repairs, including complete overhauls of diesel, hydraulic, gas, and small engine machinery;
• Procure parts and supplies for equipment and equipment repair;
• Attend safety meetings, training sessions, and other departmental activities as required.

Good mechanical knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, gas, and small engine machinery; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; display initiative and resourcefulness in handling encountered problems with minimum supervision; willingness to work extended periods of time in all types of weather conditions; good health and physical condition.

Several years of experience as a diesel, hydraulic, gas, and small engine mechanic; graduation of high school or G.E.D equivalent preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Require Emergency Vehicle Technician certification and maintenance of such certification; and/or may require the ability to obtain within 4 years.

Possession of a valid State of Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL); and/or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
