We're looking for an experienced Commercial Locksmith & Door Hardware Technician who specializes in mechanical and electronic locking systems and enjoys solving complex hardware challenges in the field.
This role is ideal for a technician with at least 5 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting commercial locksets, exit devices, door hardware, and electrified locking systems that support modern access control and security integration projects.
What You'll DoAs a Commercial Locksmith & Door Hardware Technician, you will install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical and electronic door hardware that supports commercial security and access control systems. You will work independently and alongside project teams to prepare openings for larger security integration installations while ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Work independently or as part of a team to execute project work in commercial environments.
- Install, service, and repair mechanical locking systems including:
- Mortise locks
- Cylindrical locks
- Exit devices
- Door closers
- Exit hardware
- Install and service electronic locking hardware in support of security integration projects, including:
- Electric strikes
- Electrified hinges
- Motorized latch retraction devices
- Power transfer hardware
- Other electrified door components
- Pin, rekey, and repair SFIC and LFIC cylinder systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic hardware issues and implement effective solutions.
- Diagnose door operation, alignment, and hardware functionality issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, field service, and repairs on commercial openings and hardware.
- Read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
- Support on-demand locksmith service requests as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and materials used.
- Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial locksmith, door hardware, or security hardware experience.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Mortise and cylindrical locksets
- SFIC and LFIC systems
- Exit devices and panic hardware
- Door closers
- Electrified door hardware
- Commercial door hardware applications
- Experience installing and troubleshooting electronic locking systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, hardware schedules, and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Experience with BEST, SARGENT, Corbin Russwin, Yale, Adams Rite, Medeco, Von Duprin, HES, or ASSA ABLOY products.
- Experience with automatic operators, gates, revolving doors, or master key system development.
- Familiarity with access control and security integration environments.
- OSHA certifications or construction safety training.
