Role Description The Homestudy Assessor is a full-time, on-site role based in Cincinnati, OH. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive home studies for prospective foster, adoptive, or kinship caregivers, including interviews, home visits, and environmental safety assessments. The Homestudy Assessor gathers and analyzes information, prepares detailed written assessments and recommendations, and ensures compliance with agency policies, legal requirements, and accreditation standards.

Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with caregivers and partner agencies, maintaining accurate case documentation, and participating in team meetings and case reviews. The role also involves providing education and guidance to caregivers about expectations, resources, and best practices in supporting children’s well-being.

Qualifications

• Strong assessment and interviewing skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from caregivers and household members.
• Proficiency in report writing and documentation, including clear, objective, and timely homestudy narratives.
• Knowledge of child welfare, foster care, adoption, and family support services, preferably within a community-based setting.
• Ability to build rapport with diverse families, demonstrate cultural humility, and maintain professional boundaries.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases, deadlines, and home visits effectively.
• Comfort working on-site and in family homes, including conducting environmental safety checks.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field; licensure or certification in social services is a plus.
• Experience in child welfare, home assessment, or family services is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and case management or documentation systems.
