Position

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to lead and support Meals on Wheels’ Swipe ‘N’ Dine community dining and outreach program. This position is responsible for planning community events and meals while ensuring smooth administrative and catering support. Additionally, this position is responsible for partnering with various community partners and volunteers on an ongoing basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience program/event planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Experience serving older adults preferred.
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong computer skills required with high proficiency in Microsoft Office required including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good understanding of office equipment functions (i.e., copier, printers, fax, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Adaptable and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, clients, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Able to read, write, and understand the English language and speak the language in an understandable manner.
  • Possess sight/hearing sense or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Able to maintain regular attendance; work will be performed at the office and participating program site locations.
  • Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Must maintain an active drivers’ license in good standing.
  • Must be fully up to date with required vaccinations.

As a Swipe N Dine Program Specialist you can expect to:

  • Plans and organizes Swipe ‘N’ Dine events in partnership with the Meals on Wheels’ Program Coordinator and Program Director including the identification of partners/venues, menu planning, and ordering and delivery of food.
  • Leads the execution and breakdown of Swipe ‘N’ Dine community events to ensure smooth on-site operations including registration, set up, and clean up.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new restaurant partners and community dining venues to expand program capacity and accessibility.
  • Identify underserved communities and recommend new dining sites or partnership opportunities based on community needs.
  • Assist prospective participants with enrollment, eligibility screening, and program orientation.
  • Provides excellent customer service by responding to phone calls and emails regarding event and program inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Answers incoming phone calls, logs messages, returns calls as needed, and directs inquiries to the appropriate team members as needed.
  • Develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with participating restaurants and community partners.
  • Participates in community outreach events and networking opportunities to promote engagement and raise awareness of the programs.
