RPG Programmer
Vaco is hiring an RPG Programmer for our client in Cincinnati, OH.
The RPG Programmer will develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. This role will support existing applications, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to application modernization and integration initiatives.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform
- Work with RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, and Free-Form RPG
- Maintain applications developed with ASNA Visual RPG
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues
- Support application modernization, system integration, and performance improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business teams
- Maintain technical documentation and follow established development standards
- Participate in scheduled production support and on-call support as needed
- Professional experience developing applications with RPG on the IBM i platform
- Experience with RPG IV, ILE RPG, CL, and DB2 for i
- Experience maintaining and enhancing existing applications
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with technical and business teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with Free-Form RPG
- Experience with ASNA Visual RPG
- Experience supporting Accounts Receivable or financial applications
- Familiarity with IBM i system administration concepts
- Experience with SQL, web services, or system integrations
- Experience with ERP systems or application modernization initiatives
This is a fully onsite position in downtown Cincinnati, OH.
