Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of the Boys LaCrosse Program including player development, game strategies, and team leadership.
- Serve as the Boys Varsity Head LaCrosse Coach.
- Oversee all tryouts, practices, and games.
- Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management, and rules.
- Develop and execute an effective training program.
- Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the field.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to develop moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of student-athletes.
- Cooperate in a timely manner with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department regarding requests for pertinent information and periodic requirements.
- Meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) regarding the mandatory Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
- Follow District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as described.
- Model the behavior expected of student-athletes, including timeliness to practices and games, positivity, enthusiasm, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding program discipline.
- Maintain suitable sideline conduct, including appropriate language, at all times.
- Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
- Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
- Provide all applicable in‑season training rules and any out‑of‑season conduct rules to student-athletes prior to the start of the season; follow due‑process procedures when violations occur.
- Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participate in school events (e.g., awards night, pep assemblies, athletic boosters meetings).
- Assist in ensuring that the team is well‑prepared for opponents.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Fundraising experience.
- Strong knowledge of LaCrosse rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Passionate and dedicated to inspiring student-athletes.
- Previous coaching experience in LaCrosse preferred.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Serve as a positive role model.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school and/or college level preferred.
- Provide satisfactory results of County Police Records Check, State BCIICheck, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
