Our client is a well-established manufacturer of large-scale capital equipment and is seeking an experienced Warehouse and Shipping Manager to lead its shipping and receiving operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a team of eight hourly employees while overseeing domestic and international transportation, freight management, and logistics for high-value capital equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8 Shipping & Receiving employees, including 2 Leads and 6 Materials Associates.
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time movement of materials and finished equipment.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments to customers, suppliers, and other company locations.
- Negotiate transportation rates and manage carrier relationships to ensure cost-effective freight solutions.
- Review freight invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and monitor freight costs and budgets.
- Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure shipments meet project schedules and customer requirements.
- Manage import/export shipments, customs documentation, duties, and compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
- Oversee packaging, documentation, freight claims, and shipping procedures for large capital equipment.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for shipping and receiving activities.
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, or shipping within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising hourly employees in a warehouse, shipping, or distribution setting.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation, freight management, import/export processes, and DOT regulations.
- Experience negotiating carrier rates and managing freight costs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience is a plus.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
Compensation is $90-120k DOE
