Position Type: Ice Cream or Bakery Manufacturing

Graeter’s is a fun and exciting 4th generation family‑owned company that is looking for candidates to help us achieve our goal of providing our customers with the best service and products available anywhere. The Delivery Driver will make deliveries to Graeter’s local retail stores from the Reading Rd facility, following a predetermined local route. At each retail location drivers are responsible for safely and efficiently offloading and loading their truck as needed.

After completing the delivery route, drivers return to the facility and assist in filling retail commissary orders. Additional pickups or deliveries may also be required.

Monday – Friday 3:30AM – Noon;
Saturday 3:30AM – 5:30AM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Loading, securing and unloading product in company truck
    • Loads and unloads freight safely and efficiently, minimizing risk of damage to cargo and people.
    • Where compatible truck docks are not present, the driver offloads using rails engineered to allow bakery kits to roll down to street level.
    • Products and transport kits are labeled by store location, wheeled onto the truck and secured into place.
    • Work in cooperation with Graeter’s retail employees, inspect product for damage and ensure that all product delivered is correct.
    • Additional pickups and deliveries will be completed as needed.
  • Safely operating a Company Motor Vehicle
    • Drive safely to store locations while complying with all laws related to operating a motor vehicle and adhering to company policy.
    • Safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination.
    • Professional representation of the company through responsible driving.
    • Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and document the condition via inspection log.
    • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
    • Report all accidents and/or incidents involving driver or company equipment.
  • Cleaning and general maintenance of Company Motor Vehicle
    • Maintain interior and exterior of vehicle and keep clean and neat.
    • Inspect and report on condition of vehicle and perform DVIR.
    • Clean and wash out trailers according to company SSOP.
  • Filling retail commissary orders
    • Accurately and efficiently use commissary order forms to fill retail orders.
    • Restock inventory.
    • Clean and reorganize warehouse areas.

    • Follows directions and takes constructive criticism from leadership.

    • Remain alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
    • Maneuver and park a large vehicle.
    • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather/road conditions.
    • Ability to load equipment and supplies into and out of vehicles.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
    • Ability to push, pull and maneuver rolling product kits up to 300 pounds at manufacturing or customer locations, including ramps, streets and sidewalks with declines and inclines.
    • Ability to regularly enter and exit the rear of the motor vehicle truck with 24‑30″ floor height.
    • Have basic knowledge of main state routes and highway directions and competence with GPS or other mapping programs.
Work Environment

The work environment includes natural outdoor elements such as heat and humidity, rain and snow, as well as facility environments typical of food manufacturing, including walk‑in freezers, walk‑in refrigerators, food production areas and warehouse. The work also involves wet and slippery locations, stairs and freight elevators. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience operating a box truck is preferred but not required.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and a clean motor‑vehicle record.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Pass DOT physical, pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
  • Must be available to work additional hours as needed, including early mornings or late evenings during holiday seasons.
  • Must have a stellar attendance record.
