The Kapton® team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Technology Engineer at the Circleville, Ohio facility — 30 miles south of Columbus, Ohio. This role will work with a diverse team of engineers, operators, and mechanics to provide technical expertise and strategic direction to improve our competitive advantage for the manufacturing of Kapton® Polyimide Films.
Responsibilities- Leads through influence within a team (operations specialists, production, reliability, & process control engineers) to prioritize, coordinate and execute efforts for the assets of responsibility, exhibiting strong interpersonal skills
- Designs and implements large programs and/or process improvements (yield, quality, uptime, capacity release)
- Responsible to ensure adequate basic data is created for Cap Ex projects and provides resourcing support (e.g., development and/or plans for commissioning, decommissioning, start‑up and shut‑down)
- Supports the start‑up and qualification of new equipment
- Leads troubleshooting and root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) for complex issues
- Identifies and works with technical personnel & operations to develop best practices for processes
- Networks and leverages the broader organization (engineering resources, quality, R&D, marketing, etc.)
- Provides technical oversight of ongoing production
- Enables and assists in the training of operators, mechanics and other technical team members to convey the “why” of the fundamentals
- Drives product‑by‑process through development and documentation of manufacturing standard process
- Utilizes Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma methodology
- Supports key PSM technology elements as needed (process hazard analysis, management of change‑technology)
- BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- Expert in web‑handling technology
- 5+ years industrial plant experience working with PSM critical processes/systems
- Expert at developing basic data, project execution, equipment start‑up & commissioning
- Expert with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Experience with control systems, PLCs, HMIs
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of key PSM technology elements such as process hazard analysis, process technology, management of change‑technology, RAGAGEP among others
- Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, develop others, and work in a team‑based environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time‑sensitive projects
- Demonstrated skill in team‑building and achieving results through influence and negotiation
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; must work well in both self‑managed and team environments
- Ability to access and network with appropriate site and corporate teams to gain or share knowledge
- Six Sigma / Green Belt certified
