Financial Analyst

Overview

DYS is seeking a Financial Analyst to oversee fiscal operations at Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility, supporting the Ohio Department of Youth Services. The role requires strong leadership and a passion for habilitating youth.

• Work under general supervision and apply extensive knowledge of accounting systems and procedures to examine, analyze, and assess accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards; provide guidance, train new employees, and prepare, compile, and verify statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing data, reports, and tables related to accounts payable/receivable.
• Input payments, approve or reject payment requests via the OAKS, prepare invoices, encumbrances, remittances, vouchers, requisitions, time reports, inventory, and maintain general books of accounts.
• Assist in maintaining general ledgers, preparing financial statements and reports, researching and analyzing transaction errors, determining coding for transactions, managing accounts outside of TOS, investigating questionable or unauthorized payment card transactions, closing allocations at year‑end, and determining daily cash draw amounts.
• Perform related duties such as customer service with internal inquiries, prepare routine and confidential material, correspondence, reports, and documents, maintain filing systems, deliver incoming mail, attend meetings, trainings, and conferences, and serve as backup for similar positions.

• 30 months experience or training in accounting or finance, including an intermediate level of spreadsheet proficiency.
• or completion of an undergraduate core program in accounting, finance, or a related field with 6 months experience or training and intermediate spreadsheet proficiency.
• or 12 months experience as a Financial Associate (66561T).
• or equivalent minimum class qualifications noted above.

• Strong organization and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with accounting and finance practices.
• Attention to detail, strategic thinking, and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of juvenile corrections context is a plus.

Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility, Pickaway County, Ohio. Full‑time position.

$25.77 - $33.52 per hour.
