American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home‑heating markets. AWF operates at 11 locations, employs 450+ staff, and generates over $100M in annual sales. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician role in our Circleville facility.
JOB SUMMARYThe Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician operates in a safe and efficient manner, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment and machinery. Primary duties include:
MAINTENANCE- Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment, and prepare machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Handle bearings, power transmission components, motors, low‑voltage electrical systems, VFDs, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and packaging/production machines; responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of all plant and mobile equipment.
- Repair over‑the‑road material trailers, general building maintenance, and other onsite maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, front‑end loaders, and yard jockey/trailer combinations safely.
- Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the maintenance department.
- Communicate with supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate and administer company policies related to maintenance.
- Attend monthly safety meetings; set personal goals and collaborate on continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Use CMMS for work logging.
- Demonstrate good time‑management skills by completing assignments on schedule.
- Work in environments with temperature extremes and varying conditions.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry weights in excess of 60 lbs.
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, and squat for extended periods; spend about 50 % of an 8‑hour shift standing and walking, 20 % kneeling, and the remainder in other positions.
- Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and work at heights up to approximately 100 ft.
- Support the Maintenance Manager on additional initiatives as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Mechanical and machinery background with exposure to high‑speed equipment.
- Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge.
- Basic welding experience.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
- Personal set of basic tools and willingness to work outdoors when necessary.
