Medical Assistant

Overview

The Medical Assistant will work under supervision with oversight from a registered nurse. Additional responsibilities as designated by the Director of Nursing and Administrator.

• Assists medical providers and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the practice policies and procedures. Great communicator able to deal tactfully and professionally with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
• Operates telephone system including receiving incoming calls, taking messages, identifying nature of business and call.
• Performs clerical duties including distribution of mail and messages, monitoring office supplies, and maintaining postage meter.
• Assists with chart preparation and scanning.
• Assists with Admissions.
• Checks in pre‑op patients.
• Copies identification and insurance information.
• Communicates with Pre‑Op nursing staff.
• Provides relief to Admitting, Office Assistant, and Scheduling as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, and other employees of the surgery center.
• Basic math skills.
• MA Certification.
